It’s a “SOUND SENSATION” - MED-EL Launches Global Music Festival

May 24, 2022 – (Innsbruck, Austria)Hearing implant users and experts from around the world are coming together to show that musical appreciation and enjoyment is possible with hearing devices. To do this MED-EL has organised the world’s biggest music festival that the hearing implant community has ever seen. The Sound Sensation Music Festival will showcase the talents of internationally renowned artists, implant users with a passion for music and song, as well as presenting the latest in scientific data and rehabilitation practices for music, hearing loss and hearing implants. 
Thanks to continuous advances in implant and processor technology, an increasing number of cochlear implant users and recipients of bone conduction and middle ear systems have been able to reconnect to past musical passions, learn new instruments, or simply enjoy listening to others. Sound Sensation’s will be their stage.

Sound Sensation – the festival to celebrate music with hearing implants

The Sound Sensation Music Festival will be broadcast globally online from 6-8 October, featuring a comprehensive program for everybody, from hearing experts to the general public. 
For hearing implant professionals, a Sound Sensation ExpertsONLINE Music Special will be broadcast covering technical topics, fitting and clinical care, as well as music rehabilitation and its benefits for users.
 
Viewers interested in listening to music and musical rehab can experience:
• Interactive workshops for parents, implant users and rehabilitation specialists,
• Short daily concerts featuring musical performances from countries across the world,
• A “Best Of” event showcasing a wide variety of MED-EL users’ musical activities. 
 
Sound Sensation will culminate in the Grand Finale, broadcast from Vienna, where MED-EL users perform together with acclaimed professional musicians. The Grand Finale will see another world premiere: Virtual Voices and Band, the world’s largest virtual music performance of hearing implant users. 

Virtual Voices and Band

The Virtual Voices and Band project is inviting hearing implant users of all types, countries, abilities, and brands to unite by recording a vocal or instrumental performance of Beethoven’s Ode to Joy. MED-EL will collate all individual submissions to create one huge global band.
