Frequently Asked Questions

Looking for more information about your Audio Processor? Take a look below for answers to our most frequently asked questions.

SAMBA is the latest generation of audio processor for the VIBRANT SOUNDBRIDGE and the BONEBRIDGE hearing implant systems. SAMBA is compatible with previous versions of these systems, so our current recipients can easily upgrade to the latest technology.

SAMBA features adaptive directional microphones and Intelligent Sound Adapter technology to automatically adjust to different listening environments. The SAMBA remote control allows you to easily adjust settings or change programs at the push of a button.

The sleek, stylish SAMBA features interchangeable Design Covers. Each SAMBA comes with 9 covers that blend in with your hair colour. Additionally a range of more colourful Design Covers can be ordered separately.

SAMBA features wireless connectivity through the Siemens miniTEK™ accessory*, allowing it to be connected via Bluetooth®, telecoil, or direct audio input cable to your phone, TV, and other devices.

The Bluetooth® word mark and logos are registered trademarks owned by the Bluetooth SIG, Inc. and any use of such marks by MED-EL is under license.

*Wireless connectivity feature is available with the Siemens miniTEK™.  Siemens is not responsible for the operation with the SAMBA or its compliance with safety and regulatory standards in operation with the SAMBA.

Each night SAMBA should be removed and the battery compartment opened. This allows moisture in the compartment to escape and will lengthen the battery life. In the morning, close the compartment and place SAMBA over the implant.

The battery life depends on usage and device settings. If you use your SAMBA for 12–16 hours a day, you may need to change the battery about once a week.

We recommend wearing the MED-EL Sports Headband for additional security during vigorous sports such as tennis or jogging. The audio processor should be removed prior to bathing, showering, and swimming.

SAMBA is protected against dripping water (IP32). For swimming lessons and days at the beach, slip your SAMBA into a WaterWear cover before diving into the water.
