Cochlear Implant Systems

If you or someone you care about has severe-to-profound hearing loss, a cochlear implant (CI) system from MED-EL may be an effective solution. A cochlear implant system is a treatment option for people with severe-to-profound sensorineural hearing loss. For those with this type of hearing loss, hearing aids provide little or no benefit.

Recipients choose MED-EL cochlear implant systems because they offer a superior hearing experience in real-life situations. Our CI systems are optimized for music appreciation and for listening in challenging situations.

A cochlear implant system consists of an externally worn audio processor and an internal cochlear implant.

Structure Preservation

Our incredibly soft, flexible electrodes are designed to protect the delicate nerve cells of your inner ear. Structure Preservation helps provide a solid foundation for a more clear and accurate perception of sound. Protecting your cochlea enables your implant to deliver the best benefit, both now and in the future.

Complete Cochlear Coverage

To hear the most natural range of sounds, you'll need an implant electrode that's long enough to cover the whole cochlea. We offer the longest, most flexible electrodes available, making our electrodes the only choice for Complete Cochlear Coverage.

Proven Performance
MED-EL Outperforms in Independent Clinical Studies

Up to 30% Better Performance in Noise

In a study that simulated real-life listening situations, participants were surrounded by noise of various levels. As the listening situation became more challenging, only recipients with MED-EL systems continued to improve and be able to understand 50% of speech.1
