The partially implantable middle ear hearing system Vibrant Soundbridge is an alternative to conventional hearing devices and offers innovative methods to make sound audible. It is designed for persons who have been diagnosed with mild to severe sensorineural hearing loss or conductive and mixed hearing losses.
The Vibrant Soundbridge is for persons who cannot use conventional hearing aids for medical reasons or who are dissatisfied with other hearing devices.
Because the ear canal is completely "open", the Soundbridge is suitable for persons who cannot tolerate foreign bodies in the ear canal for medical reasons, e.g. chronic ear canal inflammations, ear canal eczemas. In addition, persons requiring a free ear canal for their professions may benefit from a middle ear implant as well. This applies to physicians who frequently use stethoscopes. Musicians and singers, who wish to hear harmonics undistorted by the occlusion effect and who rely on good perception of high frequency sounds, may find the Vibrant Soundbridge to be particularly helpful.
The Soundbridge is able to amplify even steeply sloping high frequency hearing losses without feedback.
Nevertheless, the Vibrant Soundbridge is not necessarily the answer for all people with a sensorineural hearing loss or conductive and mixed hearing losses. If you are comfortable and satisfied with your modern digital hearing aids, then we advise you to continue to wear them every day.
