Anatomy of the Ear
To best understand hearing loss, it is helpful to first understand the anatomy of the ear. The ear has three parts: the outer ear, the middle ear and the inner ear.
How Hearing Works
Sound, in the form of vibrations, travels through the outer, middle, and inner ear on it's way to the cochlea.
Types of Hearing Loss
There are four different types of hearing loss: Conductive, Sensorineural, Mixed and Neural Hearing Loss.
The Audiogram
An audiogram is a graph illustrating a person’s usable hearing and the amount of hearing loss one has for each ear.
