Automatic Sound ManagementThe Automatic Sound Management technology of the OPUS speech processors ensures that both soft and loud sounds are heard clearly and comfortably in all listening situations. While some cochlear implant systems require special switches or settings for difficult listening environments, this unique technology assures that all adjustments are performed automatically without any attention from the user. Adaptive Sound WindowIn natural hearing, the range between the softest sound a person can hear and the loudest sound that can be heard comfortably is known as the dynamic range. For cochlear implant users, this range is known as the Input Dynamic Range (IDR). MED-EL's OPUS speech processors provide an extended IDR of 75dB. The Automatically Adaptive Sound Window ensures that this range automatically adapts to incoming sounds, depending on their intensity. As a result, users hear a wider range of sounds with greater accuracy.
Dual-Loop AGCThe OPUS speech processors feature an Automatic Dual-Loop AGC (AGC = Automatic Gain Control) that adjusts to very soft and very loud sounds so that they are heard clearly and comfortably by the implant user. This feature assures that you hear soft sounds with ease, for example whispering or distant voices. Simultaneously it also adjusts to very loud sounds so that they are heard comfortably. |
